Biography
Jay Jackson, Pharm.D., is the assistant dean for student affairs and assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s (PBA) Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy (GSOP). Dr. Jackson completed his undergraduate studies and Pharm.D. training at PBA, where he also played on the men’s varsity basketball team. After graduation, Dr. Jackson completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he gained invaluable experience in ambulatory care and acute care pharmacy practice.
In 2013, he joined the Gregory School of Pharmacy’s clinical faculty, maintaining an internal medicine practice site at a local community hospital. As a pharmacy practice faculty member, Dr. Jackson teaches heavily in GSOP’s pharmacotherapy courses with an emphasis on cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, nutrition support, and pharmacogenomics. In addition to his teaching role, Dr. Jackson has a passion for local and international medical missions, having led several trips locally and to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
In 2018, Dr. Jackson was appointed as GSOP’s assistant dean for student affairs. In this role, he oversees student organizations, community service, spiritual development, faculty advising, peer tutoring, professional ceremonies, new student orientation, professional development of pharmacy students, and several other student affairs-related areas within GSOP.
Dr. Jackson has received a number of awards and accolades, including the 2012 GSOP Outstanding Graduate Award, GSOP Teacher of the Year Award, GSOP Faculty Preceptor of the Year Award, Dean’s Award for Faculty Innovation, and the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County/Palm Beach Atlantic University Tikkun Olam (Repair the World) Award. Dr. Jackson lives in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, with his wife, Tiffany, and their five children.
