Biography

Dr. Steve Selby has had 32 years of experience teaching high school mathematics, including seven years as an adjunct instructor at the community college and university levels. His area of research was focused on secondary mathematics teacher classroom practices and how they were related to the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Dr. Selby has given many presentations on mathematics education at the national, state and county levels. He has also given several workshops to elementary teachers on problem solving. He is the mathematics department coordinator and is a member of several committees at PBAU and throughout the state. Dr. Selby is on the Teacher Education Committee at Palm Beach Atlantic, representing the mathematics department. He is also the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics (FCTM) and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) representative on the Palm Beach County Council of Teachers of Mathematics (PBCCTM) Board. Dr. Selby is also the Region X Director for FCTM. As Region X Director, he is responsible for Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Glades, Okeechobee and Highlands Counties. Additionally he is the treasurer of Florida Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (FAMTE). Steve is also an elder at Grace Fellowship Church in West Palm Beach.
